Welcome to the Colorado Assistive Technology Exchange, a “classified ads” feature that connects people with available AT.

Please read the following information carefully.

By using the Colorado Assistive Technology Exchange, you acknowledge having read and accepted the terms of use below.

This is a user-driven database, with entry, edit, delete, and search capabilities. The AT Exchange program is designed to facilitate transactions between Coloradoans. Listings from outside the state of Colorado are not permitted on the Exchange. Listings must include a Colorado zip code. The Center for innovative Design and Engineering (CIDE) does not profit from the sale of listed devices. CIDE is not involved in the actual transaction between users of the Exchange. CIDE has no control over and does not guarantee the quality, safety or legality of items listed on the Exchange, the truth or accuracy of users' content or listings, the ability of sellers to sell items, or the ability of buyers to pay for items. CIDE is in no way responsible for providing anyone any information, including but not limited to manufacturers' recall information, regarding any item listed on the Exchange.

CIDE does not warrant the condition, or terms of sale, of any device offered for reutilization by an existing owner or purchaser through the Colorado Assistive Technology Exchange. All information on the Exchange is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind by CIDE, either expressed or implied. CIDE cannot and does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, merchantability or fitness of any information or device listed on the Exchange.

CIDE, the Colorado Assistive Technology Exchange, the University of Colorado Denver, their trustees, directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives, shall not be responsible for any actual or alleged liability, injury or death, loss, damages, costs, expenses (including, but not limited to, court costs, fines and penalties), settlements, judgments, or attorney's fees, whatsoever, in connection with any device purchased or sold by, or through, the Colorado Assistive Technology Exchange.

You will indemnify and hold CIDE, the Colorado Assistive Technology Exchange, the University of Colorado Denver, (and their trustees, directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives) harmless from any loss or damage, including reasonable attorneys' fees, incurred by CIDE arising out of or related to your use of the Exchange. AT Exchange ("we", "our", or "the Website") is a platform that facilitates the sharing and requesting of accessible technology (also known as assistive technology or "AT") between individuals. By using this Website, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  1. No Warranty or Endorsement of Devices
    AT Exchange does not manufacture, inspect, certify, or warrant any of the devices offered or requested through this platform. We make no representations or guarantees regarding the condition, quality, safety, effectiveness, or suitability of any device made available by users.
    All devices are provided “as-is” and “as-available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. It is solely your responsibility to assess whether a device is appropriate for your needs before accepting or using it.
  2. Proper Fit and Professional Evaluation Required
    Assistive technology should be properly evaluated, fitted, and adjusted by qualified professionals to ensure it is safe and effective for your specific needs. AT Exchange does not provide medical advice, therapeutic services, or professional evaluation of devices, and is not a substitute for consultation with licensed healthcare or rehabilitation professionals.
    You acknowledge that using assistive devices that have not been assessed or fitted for your individual needs may result in injury, discomfort, or limited functionality. We strongly encourage all users to seek professional guidance before using any assistive technology acquired through this platform.
  3. No Liability for Device Use
    AT Exchange shall not be held responsible or liable for any damages, injuries, or losses resulting from the use or misuse of any device exchanged through the platform. This includes but is not limited to any personal injury, medical issue, or property damage caused directly or indirectly by the device.
  4. User Responsibility for Interactions
    All interactions and arrangements between users—including meetups, handoffs, and communications—are conducted at your own risk. AT Exchange does not conduct background checks, verify user identities, or supervise exchanges.
    You are solely responsible for ensuring your own safety when communicating or meeting with other users. We recommend that all users take reasonable precautions and use common sense when arranging in-person exchanges.
  5. Limitation of Liability
    To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall AT Exchange, its owners, operators, affiliates, or representatives be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to:
    • the use or inability to use the Website;
    • any device obtained or offered through the Website;
    • any interaction, communication, or meeting between users;
    • or the unsuitability, malfunction, or misuse of assistive technology.
  6. Indemnification
    By using AT Exchange, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AT Exchange and its affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way related to your use of the Website or your violation of this Disclaimer.
